UPCOMING EVENTS
Recorder forms will be sent home soon. Please read them and send in the money to your child's classroom teacher. Recorders are $5 if purchased from the school. Contact me (Mrs.Franklin) if you have any questions or concerns about recorders. The last day for collection of the funds is October 7, 2011.
Music Dress Up Day! During the week of Fri. Oct 21st until Thurs. Oct.27th your child will be able to dress up as their favorite singer, instrumentalist, or composer. "Halloween" costumes are not allowed. However, if your child dresses up as a character that sings and they happen to also be a figure that has an official costume that will be ok. Please do not have your children wear something that completely covers their face. For security measures we NEED TO KNOW WHO THEY ARE. Looking forward to seeing 100% participation.
Field Trips- I will post field trips as they come up.
Barnes & Nobles Concert- Choral students will have the opportunity to sing upstairs in B&N at Southpoint Mall on December 3rd. Looking forward to seeing you there.
Winter Concert- Our winter concert will be Dec. 15th at Parkwood Elementary in the gymnasium at 7:00pm. Students who are performing in the concert should arrive no later than 6:30pm. Most concerts are over within an hour.
Evening of Entertainment- This is a district event that combines elementary, middle, and high school students to gather together and perform for high school scholarships. The actual concert will be at the DPAC. Tickets should be purchased through DPAC and NOT from your child's music teacher. More information will be forth coming. It will take place in mid February.
Honors Chorus- A small group of students from Parkwood will be chosen to participate in a district wide elementary chorus and perform six wonderful songs with a guest conductor. This year's event will be held at Southern High in the month of April after Spring Break.
Spring Concert- Parkwood's Spring Concert will take place in the month of May in the gymnasium on a Thursday at 7pm. Most concerts usually last an hour.
